The Foundation of Prayer
"And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples."
The disciples had watched Jesus pray. They had seen Him rise before dawn, withdraw to quiet places, and return from prayer with a peace and authority that transformed everything around Him. They did not ask Him to teach them how to preach or perform miracles. They asked Him to teach them to pray.
